Monday

• Introduce poetry
• Watch video on BrainPop titled “Poetry”
• After watching the video, take the pop quiz
• Discuss what poetry is and what we know about it based on our personal interaction with poetry

Tuesday

• Go on the Virtual Field Trip
• Complete the assignments that are identified in the Virtual Field Trip

Wednesday

• Introduce poetry assignment and go over the rubric
• Get into groups and complete the poetry assignment that the teacher provides 
• At the end of class, each group will present their final product.  If needed, the group should assign a leader and disperse appropriate jobs

Thursday

• Introduce Beat Poetry
• Read selection from Allen Ginsberg’s novel “Howl”
• Watch movie about Jack Kerouac

Friday

• Class presentations for the Poetry Coffee House
• Everyone bring a snack and a beverage.  Popcorn will be provided
• Presentations will be graded based on the assessment that as given, but you will also be graded on your behavior and attentiveness during your classmates presentations
