Why I choose Christ

I recently stumbled across a website for encouraging Ex-Christians!

I noticed as I read some of things on that site that the creator of the site was very bitter and twisted against Christ and the Church. I decided that I would post some messages to show an alternative view to what was being said. However, I also sent him an email apologizing to him for those individuals in the Church who had hurt him and saying that it wasn't God's fault and such!

I got an email back from him finishing up with a lines, "FInally, I appreciate your apology on the behalf of Christendom, but I expect a direct apology from Christ himself. It is he who said he is building HIS CHURCH. It is not the fault of the pot if the potter is bad at his work."

I wrote back saying that I wasn't wanting to get into an argument by saying what I am saying, but merely putting forward an alternative view! All of this caused me to get on his front page for awhile!

He misunderstood something that I had said, and replied, "Michelle, If the Islamics are correct, you have much to lose indeed and I understand that Allah's hell is much hotter than Yahweh's hell.

Then again, the Mormons might be right, and in that case you are screwed too. Better look into it. YOUR ETERNAL SOUL depends on you making the right GOD choice. LOL "

So, I basically wrote the following....

I have made the choice I have made for many reasons, by the way, I didn't know you were considering the Islamic faith!! :-) I have read many good points put forward for a young earth, and for a creator. One thing that I personally can't get away from is the design that I see in nature. We look at a new car, and critique the design, but we can't look at a human being and see the plain elements of design there. I see a complexity in nature - people, animals, the outdoors, the sky, outer space etc that I just can not explain away with evolution. I can't get away from that! There must be a god!

OK, so looking at various gods - I see the Islamic faith as a religion based on works - just like the others - Catholicism, Buddhism, Animism, Mormonism. With all of those, if you don't DO things exactly right, you lose - eternal punishments, curses etc.

However, Jesus said "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should have eternal life." That's it! That's all! God knew that we were only human (capable of making mistakes - no matter how hard we tried to do the RIGHT thing). He knew that, and so provision needed to be made to make up the gap there! I don't see that in any other religion.

There are many archeological finds that have supported the Bible. For awhile, people didn't know whether or not they should trust the Old Testament. Then, they found the Dead Sea Scrolls. This is one of many finds that have supported the Bible. Christianity isn't just about blind faith! There is some rational thinking behind it too mate!

For all these reasons and more have I CHOSEN JESUS to be my Lord and Saviour. Not only that, but He has come through time and time and time again to prove Himself to me! I have experienced Him in a way that just can not be taken away from me! I KNOW that I KNOW that I KNOW He is real! See "My Testimony" page.
