Another letter from a Jew
-also very much appreciated
Dear Jo Lee, (my China name)

I am speaking from a Jewish point of view in response to your e-mail,
but you must bear in mind that there are many different Jewish points of
view. Depending on which sect you speak with, you may find that different
groups of Jews disagree on an awful lot. However, I will give you my
impressions as an Orthodox Jewish history teacher. I have not heard any claims from any Rabbis that deny the existance of Jesus, the man. He is, in fact, mentioned in the Talmud, and of course, Roman sources. Historically, Jesus the man was born, lived, and died at the age of about 30. He was an Jew from Nazareth who preached to others the importance of getting along, and hence the "Golden Rule." Jews believe that Jesus was an ordinary man whose disciples began a new religion based on his teachings. Jews do not attribute anything supernatural to Jesus-not concerning his life or death. Hope this has been helpful.
:)
