| John Carpenter was born in Carthange New York on January 16 1948 He latter moved with his family to Bowling Green Kentucky Where his father was the head of the mousic deparment at Western Kentucky University. He attended Western Kentucky University and then USC Film School in Los Angeles.While there he did" The Resurrection Bronco Billy" and started" Dark Star" He formed a band called The Coupe de Villes that included directors,Tommy Lee Wallace and Nick Castle. He marriedAdrienne Barbeau in 1979 and latter divorced in 1984 He has one sone named Cody,born in 1983 He married Sandy King in 1990 He uses keyboard /synthesizer based on soundtracks he himself composed. He likes to name characters affter real life people. He is known for an unoffical"Carpenter's Repetory Group"of actors he enjoys working with,like Kurt Russe,Sam Neil,Peter Jason,George"Buck"Flower and other crew members. He also reuses character names from classic movie's,John T Chance is John Wayne's character in Rio Bravo and Donald Pleasance's charcter in Halloween,Sam Loomis is also Janet Leigh's boyfreind in Psycho. He includes at least one scene inside an automobile in nearly all his films and also helicopters.many times doing a cameo as the pilot. He uses the character names Tramer and Baxter frequently in diffrent films.In the movie Change of Habit-1969 Elivs Presley plays a character named John Carpenter.In 1979 John Carpenter directed the movie Elvis staring his good freind Kurt Russell. He is a fan of Quartermass movies H appears in his own films under the name of Rip Haight. He considers it bad luck to wear the hat of the film he is working on. He loves Elvis and Cadillacs.
