The Trip to Egypt
In December 2002, we spent two weeks visiting Egypt. Our trip began with a couple of days in Cairo where we toured the city, including the Egyptian Museum and Old Cairo, and visited the Pyramids of Giza. We then flew to Luxor where we toured the temples of Karnak and Luxor, the Valley of the Kings, and the Temple of Hatshepsut. Next we took a 4-day cruise down the Nile from Esna to Aswan  stopping to visit temples of the Ptolemaic Era. From Aswan we flew to Abu Simbel to see Ramses' temple and then back to Cairo. We then drove to Alexandria on the Mediterranean Sea where we spent a couple of days. Jim had lived in Alexandria for one year in 1962. We concluded our tour of Egypt with a 3-day camel safari in the White Desert in the western part of the country.
