Probably in July or August of 1998 I had an encounter with a being that I thought
only existed in books and the legends and myths of the religious and the supertitious.
Despite the fact that I accept Jesus as Messiah and despite the fact that I have
sung all the religious songs and carols that included references to angels I had
no real conceptualization of the reality of such a being or beings. So to me, at
the time, Angel was a Spawn comic book character!

Little was I prepared for what was to be a life awakening event on that day as I
arrived on Thornburg street to park so that I could walk down the alley to make
my first of two daily feedings for the cats at Carmen Lane.
I had managed to get an early start on the day and as was usual for me I had alot
of paperwork to attend to for my accounting business which I had moved home from
the office that was just down this alley and to the north in the office complex
that lied just east of the old employment office. While I enjoyed feeding and visiting
with the cats and taking in the fresh air and the view I was nonetheless pushed for
time with the first feeding of the day by the amount of paperwork my job needed
to have done by Monday. So this was like an exercise in hit and run: get in, feed
and change the water for the cats, check on them to see how they were, note who
showed up, make sure I attended to my favorites and then hung around til they
were done in order to protect them from the violence of the area. Often times
children would chase after them and be cruel. Often dogs would enter the area and
it would be a nightmare for me to have to drive them off if they got too close and
became a real threat. I had really gotten to admire the courage of these little
animals in the face of all the dangers that I became aware of that they had to
deal with on a daily basis. Only humans in a war zone could understand what these
beasts had to deal with daily!

Having walked down the alley to the path
uphill to the feeding spot behind a garage with corrogated metal sheets for a
wall, I made the brief climb greeting my animals and began the process of cleaning
up the area and then of changing the water. I carried a gallon jug of water and
had two half jugs set up as water basins for the cats to drink from. Out of my
tote bag I secured the paper trays and dried and canned food that I feed them.
Well while in the process of beginning this process for some inexplicable reason
I had this impulse to make a sudden turn-about (about 120 degrees) swinging from
right around to left as I was standing facing east and then turned to face south
west.

Immediately I came face to face with this
. . . . . . huh???? . . . creature! Holy shit! An ANGEL! I really could not
believe it. I keep wanting to say SHE but I cannot be sure if such is an appropriate
use of the word. The angel was in the air and only from the chest upward was fully
visible to me as its lower body was behind the corner of the garage to my south west.
It was definitely brilliant, shining. It definitely had wing-like structures though
I wondered later if they were wings like birds have. It had a face that seemed
like those of the images of cherubs and had hair but I could not determine if the
color of the hair was being hidden by the glowing of the angel's face. This face
seemed like that of a young child. But perhaps that indicated not so much age as it
does purity. (I have drawn a very rough picture of the face to indicate the feeling
that I got from it-not so much how it really looked-will post later.)
