The JCCS's Cinema and Supper event for September has a

new Date and Time, Format and Menu. It will be

on a Saturday evening, instead of the scheduled Friday

evening, thus giving weekenders time to settle in. 

Please advise us if you prefer Saturday or Friday

evening for future films.

Saturday, September 21st at 7:00pm (not 8:00pm) the

Jewish Community Center in Sherman will feature the

intellectual, stimulating film “Focus”, starring

William H. Macy and Laura Dern. The movie is based on

a novel by Arthur Miller.  

In a small Brooklyn neighbor towards the end of World

War II an ordinary man, named Lawrence Newman and his

wife, live a good and quiet life. “Focus” is a parable

about Newman, a meek office manager who hasn’t had a

day of trouble in his life until he gets a new pair of

glasses. However, his neighbors begin to perceive him

differently through that subtle change in his

appearance, and soon he and his wife are mistaken for

Jews. Finding themselves suddenly aware of their

Anti-Semitic neighbors, they befriend a local Jewish

immigrant and struggle for their dignity and survival.
