Suggested DRE 012 Syllabi Information

Syllabus: Every student must have a copy of the class syllabus. The syllabus, at a minimum, must include:

1.Catalogue description of the course;

2.Statement of purposes/goals/objectives for teaching the course;

3.Instructor's name, campus address, e-mail address, and phone number, section number, meeting time and location;

4.Enumeration of all course requirements;

5.Required textbook(s) - complete bibliographic citations;

6.Instructor's office hours - regular hours and other times available for student conferences;

7.Instructor's attendance policy;

8.Instructor's grading policy, including policy on academic dishonesty;

9.Class outline: Instructors do not need to have all assignments and class activities predetermined and listed in the syllabus. In fact, they are urged to remain flexible in order to respond to the diverse and changing needs of students. Students and classes vary. However, instructors must include College calendar dates that will affect their course, such as the last date to drop a course, holidays, last class of the term, etc. Dates for the mid-term and final examinations;

10. Class behavior policy.

Classroom Behavior:
Classroom behavior that seriously interferes with either (1) the instructor’s ability to conduct the class or (2) the ability of other students to profit from the instructional program will not be tolerated. When a student’s behavior in a class is so seriously disruptive as to compel immediate action, the instructor has the authority to remove a student from the class.
