     "It is probably the best thing that Nelson could have done to give Wolgast the opportunity that was due him. So far as western information is concerned, Packey McFarland is well above the lightweight division in number of pounds. Freddie Welsh, as the English champion, has a right to be considered, but it was Wolgast who gave the Dane a surprise in Los Angeles. Again it was Wolgast who defeated Lew Powell in a twenty-round fight, so that it has come about he is the logical opponent of the champion."
