���� "Ever since Wolgast was operated on for appendicitis at Los Angeles one year ago this coming Thanksgiving Day, his ring work as champion has been below par. Only recently - on November 4th, to be exact - Wolgast stepped ten rounds with Joe Mandot and at the finish he was tiring badly. The champion admits that he was weakening, but attributes it to the fact that he had only trained for a ten-round bout and was hardly fit for such a bruising tussle. However that may be, it was noticeable before the operation that Wolgast could could tear from sun up until sun down and still keep going."
