A quote found in The Detroit News,
February 23, 1910:
     "The lad from Hegeswich, Ill., met a better man than himself. He met a boy who could come in and fight him shoulder to shoulder, use his head for generalship and also butting purposes as much as Nelson, hit as hard as the champion, take as much punishment, come back as often and prove himself as game.
     In every department in which Nelson has proven himself superior to other men of his class did Wolgast prove at least the Battler's equal, and in several respects the "Michigan Wildcat" was Bat's superior."
