Story of Rounds
The Ad Wolgast-Jack Lepper Bout
February 22, 1914

ROUND 1. Wolgast was apparently feeling out Lepper, but in the one exchange of blows Wolgast played a tattoo on Leppers body.

ROUND 2. Wolgast did most of his fighting with one hand in this round, letting Lepper be the aggressor, which gave the Michigan Wildcat a chance to show his defensive form. However, he sent in blows enough to keep the crowd interested.

ROUND 3. Lepper came back in this round and tried to make a showing, but was put to the ropes by a succession of body and face blows, and finished the round covering and hanging on.

ROUND 4. Wolgast opened up fast and rained blows to the body and face, dazing Lepper, who was forced to the ropes and followed them to the south corner where he was forced through them by a volley of blows which ended the bout, Leppers seconds being saved the trouble of throwing in the sponge by the early ringing of the gong.
