The Ad Wolgast-Jack O'Brien Bout
May 31, 1912

First Round-At the start of the fight O�Brien hooked left to Wolgast�s ear while the champion countered with left to head. O�Brien came back with three lefts to Wolgast�s head and then got a smash in the wind in return. O�Brien swung both hands to opponent�s face, while Wolgast put left to nose and right to wind. The round closed with Wolgast hitting O�Brien on the head. Round Even

Second Round-Wolgast led with left to ribs and O�Brien countered with right to ear. O�Brien took count of nine from left hook to jaw. O�Brien hooked left to face and Wolgast drove both hands to body and head. O�Brien swung both hands to jaw twice and then two lefts to eye. Wolgast hooked hard to neck and mouth, and O�Brien jabbed two lefts to nose. Wolgast swung terrific right to body, and O�Brien came back with right to chest. O�Brien jabbed two lefts to face, and they exchanged right and left swings to head. Wolgast�s round.

Third Round-They danced around the ring and O�Brien led with both hands to face. Wolgast missed left to jaw and O'Brien swung both hands to face. Wolgast rushed O'Brien to ropes and O'Brien swung left to face. Wolgast drove both hands to body and head. They exchanged lefts to head and O�Brien jabbed four lefts to face. Wolgast smashed both hands to jaw and body. O�Brien smashed three lefts to nose. O�Brien�s round.

Fourth Round-Wolgast missed left swing and jab and then danced around ring. O�Brien swung right and left to head and wind, and they clinched. Wolgast missed again and danced away from left hook for jaw. O�Brien jabbed left to nose and both hands to jaw. Wolgast swung both hands to wind. Round even.

Fifth Round-They sparred for half a minute and O�Brien swung both hands to head. Wolgast put left to body and right to chin. Wolgast put left to body and right to chin. They exchanged left swings to head. O�Brien jabbed left to face twice and then sent right to heart. They clinched as O�Brien hit the champion with right and left in mouth. O�Brien�s round.

Sixth Round-O�Brien swung left to head, and Wolgast swung right to neck. Wolgast smashed three lefts to wind, O�Brien swung left to chin. Wolgast countered with right and left to jaw and followed with right to neck. Wolgast put two rights to face. He then swung a terrific left to jaw. He was trying for a knockout. They were swinging at each other at bell. Wolgast�s round and fight.
