The Ad Wolgast - "Young" Pat Gilbert Bout May 17, 1916 ROUND 1-- Gilbert led with a left jab to the jaw and Wolgast retaliated with three lefts to the stomach. Ad jabbed right to mouth and followed it up with bard right to the head. Gilbert swung right to body twice in quick succession. Wolgast sent left to stomach and Gilbert duplicated the blow. Wolgast jabbed left to mouth. Wolgast sent two lefts to stomach and Gilbert wavered, but came back with left and right to jaw. ROUND 2-- Wolgast sent three terrific lefts to jaw and Gilbert placed weak right to jaw. Ad landed stinging right jab to nose and Gilbert bled profusely. Ad swung a hard right to body. Gilbert sent light left to face, but his blows lacked steam. Ad landed left to stomach and followed it up with two hard rights to jaw. ROUND 3-- Wolgast shook Pat up with two lefts to stomach. Wolgast slammed hard right to nose. Gilbert landed his first clean blow, a stiff left to chin, but Ad smiled and landed both right and left to stomach. Gilbert repeated his blow to chin and Ad came back with swing to jaw, followed by right uppercut. ROUND 4-- A terrific left to jaw sent Gilbert to the mat, but he was up immediately. He was apparently at Wolgast's mercy and the latter landed rights and lefts to the stomach and jaw at will. ROUND 6-- Gilbert almost immediately received a stiff left to the jaw, which sent him down for a third time. He regained his feet at the count of eight, only to be knocked out with a bard left swing to the jaw.
