What You Need to Know:
-In this story, Jessica isn't married to Nash and Cristian isn't with Sarah, this way things are a lot less complicated.
Synopsis: Will the 13th anniversary of when Jessica and Cristian met at the party in Angel Square spark old feelings?
Jessica Buchanan was driving on the road on her way to the Buchanan cabin. She had been feeling really down that her marriage to Nash didn't last and she needed a few days to herself. It was pouring rain and she could barely even see through her windshield. She was getting closer from the cabin when she noticed something was feeling off with her car and then it abruptly stopped. She frowned and got out of the car to see what had happened. She glanced around her car and noticed she had a flat tire.
"Perfect. Just perfect!," She said to herself. And this had to happen during a lightning storm of all times too, she thought. She went back to her car and grabed her cell phone and saw she had no cell service. She then decided to look in her trunk to see if she had a spare tire. She opened her trunk but ended up empty handed.
Jessica saw some headlights getting closer to her and saw the car slow down and park at the side of the road behind her car. She breathed sigh of relief, maybe they had a spare tire. She then realized their was something very familiar about that car and when the car door opened, she saw it was Cristian.
"Cristian! I've never been happier to see anyone in my life," She said as she ran to him and hugged him. It almost seemed like a fate that he was here on this road of all places.
"What happened Jess?" He asked her concerned as he pulled away from the hug.
"I got a flat tire. Do you have a spare?" She asked
"No, i don't," He said regretfully. "I can take you back to Llanview and then someone in your family can come back with you and put a new tire on your car."
"No, I don't want to go back. I was going to the cabin. I wanted to spend a few days by myself."
"Okay, i'll give you a ride to the cabin then," Cristian told her.
"Thanks Cristian. But could you stay with me? I know I said I wanted to be alone. And if you were anyone else, I would still have wanted to be alone. But its you, I've known you for so many years and I think you're what I really need right now."
"Of course I'll stay with you. But are you sure?"
"I'm positive. But we should probably get going. We're getting soaked here," Jessica said with a laugh. He laughed with her. He had been so concerned about her, he had been oblivious that he had gotton soaking wet.
"Okay, let's go," He said as they ran to his car and drove to the Buchanan cabin.
When they got inside the cabin, Jessica went to find some towels while Cristian got the fire started up.
"Here's a towel for you. It looks like you really need it," She said smiling at him.
"So do you," He told her as he took the towel.
Jessica tried drying herself off and then wrapped the towel over her shoulders as he did the same.
Cristian frowned when he saw that she was shivering. He moved closer to her and wrapped his arms around her in effort to warm her up. She smiled up at him and he smiled back at her.
"Come on, let's go sit by the fire," He told her. The walked over to the fire and sat down.
"Cristian, I'm very happy you were there at the exact moment when I needed you. But what were you doing driving out there anyway?" Jessica asked him.
"I was just going for a drive. I wanted some time by myself to think."
"I know the feeling. Thats why I decided to go to the cabin. Are you still upset about your breakup with Sarah?" She asked him.
"We broke up months ago, I've gotten over it. But I guess the thing that still bothers me is why I couldn't make yet another relationship work."
"I know what you mean. My marriage to your brother couldn't last because I developed feelings for Nash. And then my marriage to Nash couldn't work either. Why can't we ever make it right?" She asked him.
"I don't know, Jess. That's what I wanted time to think about. But I guess maybe we just haven't found the right person yet."
"How will we know when we find the right person?"
"I wish I knew," Cristian stopped for a moment when his eyes met with Jess. He had always believed she was the right person, his soulmate, but they hadn't lasted either.
"Hey Cristian is that really the day it is today?" Jessica said interrupting his thoughts. He noticed she was pointing to the calendar that hanging up a few feet away from them.
"Yeah, it is. Why?"
"Do you realize thats the day we met at that party in Angel Square all those years ago?" Jessica said with a huge smile brewing on her face.
"Wow, you're right. That was 13 years ago. It seems like a lifetime ago," Cristian said smiling thinking about it.
"Yeah it does. And sometimes it feels like it was just yesterday. We sure have had some fun times together over the years," Jessica told him.
"We sure have," Cristian said thinking back. "Hey, do you remember that one New Years where we wrote about where we wanted to be in 50 years?"
"Of course I remember. You had wanted to be a great artist and your most famous painting--" Jessica started.
"-Would be of you," He finished for her with a smile. "And you had wanted to be a great writer and you wanted your novel-" I started.
"-To be about you," Jessica finished smiling back at him. "I love that we can still finish each others sentences," She paused for a moment and a sad look started to form on her face. "Doesn't it make you feel sad when you think about it, Cristian? We had all these beautiful dreams but those dreams will never come true."
"You can still write a novel, Jess.," He reminded her.
"I know that. But thats not what I was talking about," She said as she met his eyes. Cristian froze when he realized what she was referring to. The truth was he had always made him feel sad. Then he noticed she had tears in her eyes.
"Jess? What's wrong?" He asked her.
"All these memories, we have together. It just makes me sad because we didn't last."
"It makes me feel sad too, Jess," He said as he wiped the tears from her eyes. When their eyes met, He froze. He felt this deep connection forming, so he leaned in to kiss her. She kissed him back passionately. Then he pulled away.
"So, um what did that mean? Why did you kiss me? Did we just get stuck in the past or is it something more?" Jessica asked him.
"It is something more Jess. I feel like I had all these feelings buried so far down in me, that they just couldn't be found. Until now. Being here with you, thinking back to our past, brought everything to a full circle for me. I've always loved you, and I still do," He told her.
Jessica smiled at him. "I think you're right, Cristian. Right now, here with you I feel as much love for you as I ever did. But we've been in love with other people. How can this be true?"
"Because I can honestly say it never felt the same way it feels when I'm with you," He told her. Jessica smiled at him.
"You're right, I feel the exact same way. I still love you, Cristian. I've always have and I always will. I think you finding me tonight was kind of like fate. This was just meant to be."
"I still love you too, Jess. I think it was fate, things like this can't just be a coincidence." She smiled at him and then they kissed again. After their kiss broke, he looked at her.
"Isn't it funny that we get back together on today of all days, the same day we met 13 years ago?" He asked her.
"Funny? Nah, the word I would use is perfect."
"Perfect it is," He said as he leaned in to kiss her and she kiss him back and they both knew that they had finally gotten it right.
