A tribute to the Martini and the Cigar
A great martini needs to be made with gin, not vodka. A great martini needs to be very, very, dry with only a hint of vermouth. A great martini needs to be shaken, not stirred so that the little thingys on top of the poured beverage are miniture ice/gin crystals. A great martini needs to be served in a stemmed glass so that the heat from one's hand does not warm it.
A great cigar needs to be made from first class tobaccos. A great cigar needs to be a "long filler" cigar. A great cigar needs to be smoked gently and purposefully, never rushed. A great cigar has no calories.
One of my cigar/martini heros was the late George Burns who passed away at the age of 103. He allegedly smoked 12 cigars a day, and drank 5 martinis a day. Clearly such imbibing is too much for us normal mortal souls, but he was above normal. And, keep in mind that the liberals will point out to you that, "With a lifetime of over smoking, and over induldging in adult beverages, look what happened to him. He died." Finally, the liberals tell the truth.
All of which leads us to one of the premire organizations for martini and cigar lovers, BALLS. You can take the jpeg of the certificate, paste it into a graphics program, put in your name using an appropriate font, print it out, and then you can thusly become a member of BALLS. Then, you can reduce it and print out one for your wallet. And yes, we even have a female member, and are looking for others.
