The Second Amendment to the Constitution:
"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
Never, in the history of our Republic, have so few words generated so much hate and villification. Rather than go into a diatribe on the liberal left in this country, and its selective and illogical views of our freedoms, I would like to point out just a couple of things. 1) The liberals are fond of stating that the Second Amendment pertains to the state militia, which is in reality the National Guard. Consider that the National Guard legislation was passed by congress around 1917, way, way, after the Second Amendment was written. George Mason, one of our founding fathers (of course you would not know that if you had been educated in one of our radical liberal public institutions) made it crystal clear, "I ask who are the militia? They consist of now of the whole people, except for a few public officers." However, in classic liberal argumentation, this first part of the Second Amendment is nothing more than a red herring. It really has nothing to do with the main part of the Second Amendment. 2) The main actuating part of the Second Amendment starts, "the right of the people." This phrase, incorporating "the people" has been used to acknowledge individual rights in the First, Fourth and Ninth Amendments of the constitution. The liberals argue that those are different amendments, and they are correct. But again, the ignore the thrust of the Second Amendment. Their arguments are specious and vacuous, but definitely emotional. A recent Federal appellate court case, Emerson, held that the Second Amendment does, in fact, address an individual right to keep and bear arms. 3) If our founding fathers had meant to confer a collective right for the states and not an individual right, the Second Amendment would read ... the right of the states to keep and bear arms ... . But that is not what the Second Amendment states. It states, "... the right of the people to keep and bear arms ... ." Q.E.D. 4) The liberals throw all sorts of phoney statistics to try and butress their arguments. The fact is that the armed citizen is far less likely to be the victim of a violent crime (on the street or in the home) than the unarmed citizen. But, the liberals have never let facts or the truth get in the way of their agenda. 5) Liberals love to claim how our children are being murdered by guns at an alarming rate. However, data from the National Safety Council, published in 1998, indicate that for children aged 0 to 14 years of age, in 1995 had 181 accidental firearm deaths, while during the same period, there were 1060 deaths due to drownings! 6) And, to show you just how silly the liberals can be and pushing their agenda (and, yes, the disarming of America is part of that agenda), look at two of the cherished "rights" that the Constitution protects. The right to privacy and the right to an abortion in the first trimester ... two "rights" that are no where in the constitution. What is even more amazing, is that the liberal judges who wrote this part of our constitution actually relied on the "right to privacy" to develop a "right to an abortion." Liberal logic's illogical. And, keep in mind that in the Roe v. Wade case, true to liberal ideology that the end is worth the means, Jane Roe lied about her rape all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. But, hey, that was okay. Liberals get away with such things for their causes. Anyone remember Bill Clinton? And, Hillary?.
