| West Plains Daily Quill April 9, 2001 Zack Riley services held Funeral services for Zack Dwayne Riley, 76, Mtn. Grove, were 2 p.m. Saturday April 7, 2001, at Graig-Hurtt-Bradley Chapel n Mtn. Grove, with the Rev. Roger Marshall officiating. Mr. Riley died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, after a valiant three year battle with leukemia. He was born March 30, 1925, at Blanche, son of Lando and Betty Alsup Riley. Mr. Riley left home at an early age to travel the country on his beloved Indian motocycle. He joined the U.S. Army shortly after returning home to Mtn. Grove and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1955. Upon his return home, he met and married Wilma Halliburton. They had three wonderful children together, and enjoying vacationing together, especially when camping and MR. Riley was showing them the beauty of the West he had enjoyed in his youth. In 1966, Mr. Riley moved his family to Iowa where he worked for the former Dewey Portland Cement Company, presently LaFarge Corp. He retired to Missouri in 1987. Mr. Riley enjoyed traveling out West, camping and fishing, and was a gifted storyteller of the old days. He brought much joy and laughter to his family and friends through the years. Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Wilma Riley, of the family home; one son, Leo Dwayne Riley and wife, Sheila, Buffalo, Iowa; two daughters, Nancy Stout and husband, Dean, Drury, and Annabell Kimes and husband, Dave, Buffalo, Iowa; one stepdaughter, Linda Loethen and husband, James, Fort Myers, Fla.; grandsons, Shane, Mike, Tim and Luke Riley, and Travis, Josh and Trent Stout; granddaughter, Catie Kimes; stepgrandchildren; J.D. and Angela Loethen; great-granddaughter, Samantha Riley; and his aunt, Gert Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Willard and Harold Riley, and Dick "Leon" and Bus "Leo"Alsup and two sisters Gladys Barker and Ima Henderson. Burial was in Denlow Cemetery will full military rites performed by American Legion Post No. 30. |
