Vernia James services held

  Funeral services for Vernia Marie James, 70, Houston, Mo., and formerly of the West Plains area, were 10 a.m. today Monday, June 11, 2001, in the Rose Chapel of the Robertson-Drago Funeral Home of West Plains, with the Rev. Rolan Norsworthy officiating.
  Mrs. James died 8:25 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2001, at Phelps County Hospital, Rolla.  She was born Dec. 9, 1930, at West Plains, the daughter of Zeek and Minnie Collins Stubbs.
  On Aug. 3, 1948, she was married to Herlin Collins.  She was later married to William A. James.
  Mrs. James was of the Baptist faith.
  Survivors include six children, Joyce Ellison and husband, Jack, Robert Collins, Herman Lee Collins and wife, Mary, and Edward A. James and wife, Theresa, all of Houston, Joan Casey and husband, Richard, Fayette, and Jerry Lee Collins, Licking; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Wayne Stubbs and wife, Dorothy, West Plains; one sister, Vergie Stubbs, Willow Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one son Bobby; one sister Agnes Murrell; and four brothers, Fred Stubbs, Norvel Stubbs, Everett Stubbs and Charley Stubbs.
  Burial was in Collins Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
