Speck Collins funeral today

    Funeral services for Thurman "Speck" Samuel Collins, 63, West Plains, were at 2 p.m. today in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains, with the Rev. Duane Fine officiating.
    Mr. Collins died Friday at his home.  He was born April 28, 1922, near West Plains, the son of Beatty and Nora Collins.
    On April 24, 1970, he was married at Salem, Ark., to Verda Summers.  He was a retired truck driver.
    Survivors include his wife, Verda Collins, of the home; his mother Nora Pliler, Joplin; a stepdaughter, Sharon Wiggins, Lawrence, Kan.; two step grandchildren; two brothers, Virgil Collins, and Arthur "Joe" Collins, both of Bentonville, Ark.; two sisters, Ethyl Tusher, West Plains, Dorothy Koelling, Webb City; two half brothers, J. D. Pliler, Joplin, and James Pliler, Colorado; two half sisters, Barbara Collins, Arizona, and Pat Pliler, Germany; and several nieces and nephews.
    Burial was in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, West Plains.
