| Dec. 1, 1971 Mrs. Sara E. McMillan Sarah Elizabeth McMillan, age 73, died at 6:45 a.m. today in the Labette County Medical Center. She had been in failing health for the past year. Her home was at 1400 Leonard. She was born Dec. 5, 1898, in Morehead, the daughter of James and Nancy Ann Herndon Beasley. She moved to Parsons at an early age and had lived her since. She and Charles Andrew blake were married in 1918. He died in 1939. She then married Fred W. McMillan in 1945. He died in 1968. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Parsons. She is survived by four sons, William E. Blake, Robert F. Blake, Herbert A. Blake, all of Parsons, and Richard D. Blake; two daughters, Mrs. Anna Louise Carpenter of Media, Pa., and Mrs. Harriett E. Todd of Pueblo, Colo.; 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Two step-sons, Lawrence McMillan of Pittsburg, and Fred McMillan of Tulsa; six step daughters, Mrs. Geral (Doris) Sexton, Erie; Mrs. Robert (Lois) Blake, Mrs. Jery (Berniece) Knight and Mrs. Charles (Betty) Schroder, all of Parsons, Mrs. Clayton (Maxine) Long of McCune and Mrs. Lisle (Bernieta) Fincher of Pittsburg. Six brothers, Walter H. Beasley of Ottawa, James N. of Cherryvale, Edmond A. of Lehi, Utah, Joseph F. of Parsons, Elza R. of Holden, Mo., and Rusell L. of Jenks, Okla.; and three sisters, Cora E. Dean of Erie, Gladys F. Dean of Galesburg and Lili M. Dean of Parsons. One son and two brothers preceded her in death. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Burris-Wall Funeral Home with the Rev. Victor L. Trower officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Oakwood. |
