Rebecca Ann Lucas
Rebecca Ann Lucas, daughter of Thomas B. & Mary Lucas, was born July 14, 1866, in the State of Illinois, and departed this life December 27, 1951, at the home of her son, Clarence Vandeventer, at Clear Springs, Mo.
She was united in marriage to Jacob Vandeventer in the year 1887. To this union two sons were born, Tommie and Clarence.
She was left a widow in the year of 1897. She was again united in marriage in 1899 to Jack Hostetter, who preceded her in death 14 years ago. To this union two children were born, John and Madge.
She was converted at an early age and lived a good Christian life. She never missed a service if her health permitted her to attend. And was always ready to lend a helping hand to everyone who was in need.
She will not only be missed by her children but by everyone in the neighborhood. Her children were all at her bedside during her illness and did everything possible to make her comfortable.
She is survived by her children J. T. Vandeventer of the home; C. L. Vandeventer, John Hostetter and Madge McCallister, all of Clear Springs; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; one niece, Mrs. Mary Porter, of Springfield, and a host of friends.
Funeral service was held December 28, at the Clear Springs Community Church under the direction of the Burns Funeral Home of Willow Springs. Mrs. Ray Miles conducted the service. Burial was in Clear Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Rebecca Hostetter Dies At Age of 85
Mrs. Rebecca Anne Hostetter, 85, died last Wednesday at the home of a son, C.L. Vandeventer, of Clear Springs, where she had been since becoming seriously ill several weeks ago.
Services were conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Clear Springs Baptist Church with Mrs. Sada Miles of Houston, officiating. Burial was in Clear Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Burns Funeral Home.
