Orpha Clinton services held

  Funeral services for Orpha Olene Clinton, 84, Willow Springs, were 2 p.m., at Little Zion Church, with Brother Stasey Sheppard officiating under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home of West Plains.
  Mrs. Clinton died 6:55 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, in Willow Care Nursing Home, Willow Springs.  She was born May 4, 1916, at Roosevelt, the daughter of John and Ada Pittman Thornton.
  She attended school through the eighth grade at Big Springs, and on May 17, 1934, was married at West Plains to Charley Jarvis Clinton, who preceded her in death Aug. 29, 1994.
  Mrs. Clinton, along with her husband, made her home at Twin Bridges, and to this union eight children were born.  She enjoyed gardening, canning and providing for her family.  Mrs. Clinton loved to piece quilts and collected lots of family photos.  She also enjoyed family reunions and was a wonderful cook.
  She accepted the Lord as her Savior as a young woman, with her membership at Little Zion Baptist Church.
  Survivors include five children, Lenvil Clinton and wife, Carol, Vanzant, Randy Clinton and wife, Anita Jo, and ruth Sheppard and husband, Stasey, all of Willow Springs, Joyce McDonald and husband, Robert, Dora, and Bernice Gasperson and husband Gerald, Mtn. Grove; one daughter-in-law Oleta Clinton, Mtn. Grove; 27 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren;  three great-great-grandchildren;  two brother, Marvin thornton and wife, Maxine, Willow Springs, and Gene Thornton and wife, Jennie, Amoret; four sisters, Nola White and Opal Clinton, both of West Plains, Christeen Altermatt, Mtn. View, and LaWanda Towell and husband, Harry, Manes; two sisters-in-law, Mae Thronton, Willow Springs and Nola Watkins, Wilder, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews.
  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty years; three sons, Leon Clinton, Leroy Clinton and Stanley Clinton; one great-grandson, Royce Dean Clinton; one infant granddaughter; and one brother, Lloyd Thornton.
  Memorial contribbutions may be made to Little Zion Church or the Little Zion Cemetery and left at the funeral home.
  Burial will be in Little Zion Cemetery, Twin Bridges, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
