Ora Downs services held
Funeral services for Ora Alberta Downs, 87, Mammoth Spring, Ark., were 2 p.m. today, Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, with the Rev. Wayne Hurst officiating.
Mrs. Downs died 7:35 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Ozarks Medical Center, West Plains, she was born Oct. 9, 1914, in Light, Ark., the daughter of Charles Elmer and Mary Jane Collins Porter.
She married to Adrian Roscoe Downs.
Mrs. Downs was a homemaker and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include six daughters, Glenda Hall, Rita Harkleroad, Mary Lawson and Wanda Downs, all of Mammoth Spring, Christine Merriman, Searcy, Ark., and Delieta Bookout, Thayer; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Laverne and Larry Downs; one infant grandchild; two brothers, Dave and Steve Porter; and three sisters, Ainer Nash, Frankie Mitts and Nancy Collins.
Burial was in Steven Collins Cemetery, Wirth, Ark., under the direction of CArter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer.
