| Monday, Oct. 29, 1972 Opal E. Beasley James N. Beasley Special to The Sun CHERRYVALE - Services for James N. Beasley and his wife, Opal E. Beasley, of Cherryvale, who were fatally injured in a traffic accident at 12:01 a.m. Sunday three miles east of Strauss on US160 highway, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Cherryvale Christian Church, with Bob Brock conducting the rites. The Beasleys were former residents of Parsons. They moved to Cherryvale at the time of their marriage, in 1969. Beasley was a retired Railway Express Agency driver and Mrs. Beasley had operated restaurants for several years. She resided in the Parsons and Cherryvale vicinities most of her life. Mrs. Beasley was born on March 10, 1905, in Parsons, the daughter of Robert and Ida Snyder Kelly. She and Edward Passwater were married on June 26, 1924 in Parsons. Passwater, a plumber and steamfitter, died in 1953. She was a member of the White Shrine of Neodesha, the Cherryvale Order of the Eastern Star and the Christian Church of Cherryvale. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Crystal (J.D.) Harper and Mrs. June (Bob) McConnell of Cherryvale, a sons, Lee Passwater of Cherryvale, a stepdaughter, Mrs. Lloyd Youel of 3101 Rosewood, Parsons; a sister, Mrs. Mabel Brown of Parsons, 14 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, two brothers and a sister. The Wayne-Darling Funeral Home of Cherryvale is in charge for Mrs. Beasley. Her burial will be in Oakwood in Parsons. Beasley was born on Feb. 9, 1894, in Willow Springs, Mo., the son of James M. and Nancy Herndon Beasley, and went with his family to Parsons about 1902. He was employed by the REA about 45 years, retiring in 1959. He was a World War I veteran. Beasley and Ettie Pritchett were married on Feb. 19, 1919 and she died on Sept. 16, 1956. Beasley was a member of the American Legion and the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks, and attended the Cherryvale Christian Church. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Youel, 3101 Rosewood, Parsons, a grandson and two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Fred of Parsons, Walter of Wellsville, Edmund of Lehi, Utah, E.R. of Holden, Mo., and R. Lee of Jenks, Okla.; three sisters, Mrs. Rutherford Dean of Erie, Mrs. E.W. Dean of Galesburg and Mrs. May Swayze of Parsons. Beasley will lie in state at the Burris-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn at Parsons. |
