| West Plains Daily Quill April 30, 2001 Mildred Oaks services Wednesday Funeral services for Mildred Arlene Oaks, 73, West Plains, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2001, in the Rose Chapel of the Robertson-Drago Funeral home of West Plains, with the Rev. Duane Flood officiating. Mrs. Oaks died 10:23 a.m. Sunday, April 29, 2001, at West Vue Home, West Plains. She was born May 23, 1927, near Grimmett in Howell County, the ninth child of Rube and Jennie Morgan Collins. She received her education at star School and Grimmett School, and on April 8, 1944, was married at Austin, Texas, to Marvin Albert Oaks. Mrs. Oaks spent much of her married life as an officer's wife, have served with her husband at various military installations all around the world during a 30 year period with the U.S. Air Force. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Oaks loved her offspring ans was especialy proud to be a great-grandmother. She had many friends in Howell County, and she especially loved to travel in her motor home. She will be sadly missed, especially by her surviving relatives and the many friends who knew her well. Survivors include her husband, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Marvin Oaks Sr., of the family home; two children, Carol Ann Morton and husband, Ben, Jackson, Ala., and Marvin Albert Oaks Jr. and wife, Angela, Satellite Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren, Laura Marlene Sullivan and husband, Shane, Mobile, Ala., Michael Benjamin Morton and wife, Ava Danielle Boros, Jackson, Ala., and Joseph Daniel Dutra and wife, Susanne Medaris, Falmouth, Mass.; four great-grandchildren, Anna Katherine Sullivan, Benjamin Hampton Morton, Desiree Dutra and McKenzie Arlene Dutra; one brother, Fred Collins, West Plains; three sisters, Edna Adams and Shirley Brown, both of West Plains, and Gladia Smith, Kingsville; two sisters-in-law, Louise McConnell, Mtn. Home, Ark., and Ruth Williams, Kingman, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Arlene Francis Dutra; four brothers; and two sisters. Burial will be in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. |
