He was united in marriage to Essenia Victoria Collins on March 12, 1940 and to this union nine children were born.
Melvin worked as a timberman and was presently working as a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, two sisters, and two children.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Essenia Victoria Luton of the home; four sons, Estel Luton, Willow Springs, Donnie Luton of Caldwell, Idaho, Jerry Luton and Steve Luton both of Mountain Grove; three daughter Mrs. Fern Clark of Cabool, Madaline Luton of Mountain Grove and Mrs. Verlin Pogue of Fredricktown, Missouri; one brother Alfred Luton of Willow Springsl nine grandchildren; one great grandson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
