| taken from the West Plains Daily Quill, January 18, 1962 Invalid For 3 Years, Malissa Collins Succumbs Today Mrs Malissa Jane Collins, S. S. Rt., died at 7:30 this morning in a West Plains nursing home following an invalidism of three years. Mrs Collins was born in Douglas County Dec. 3, 1875 to the late Eddie and Hannah Clinton. She had spent her entire life in Douglas and Howell counties. In 1887 she was married to William Collins who preceded her in death a number of years ago. Surviving are four sons: Claude Collins, West Plains, Arthur Collins, Kokomo, Ind., Russell Collins, Parma, Idaho; Sterling Collins, whose whereabouts are unknown. Three sons preceded her in death. She was the last of a family of six children. She was a member of hte Missionary Baptist Church for many years with membership in New Liberty Church west of West Plains. Funeral arrangements are incomplete awaiting the arrival of relatives from a distance but will be under the direction of Robertson Funeral Home. |
