Marvin V Collins Sr services Saturday

Memorial services for Marvin  V Collins Sr, 84, West Plains, will be 2 pm, Saturday, Nov 22, 2003, at Curry Street Church of Christ, with Evangelist Ivie Powell officiating under the direction of Robertson Drago Funeral Home of West Plains.
Mr Collins died 5:19 am Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003 at his home. He was born July 22, 1919, in Ozark County, the son of J Sherman and Alta Jane Russell Collins.
He graduated from West Plains High School with the class of 1938, and on June 14, 1940, was married at West Plains to Gladys Henrietta Adams, who preceded him in death June 2, 1986. On July 30, 1989, he was married at West Plains to Dorothy V Nash.
Mr Collins was a veteran, having served as a radio operator with the US Navy in the Pacific during World War II.
He had worked for the West Plains Daily Quill for more than 50 years and at his retirement was plant superintendent. Mr Collins was a registered Angus farmer and was a founder and first president of the Heart of the Ozarks Angus Association.
Mr Collins had served as a leader for Boy Scout Troop 61, was a member of the Howell County Fair Board and was a life member of the Lions Club.
He enjoyed fishing, bird hunting, and was an avid walker. He loved to talk about and listen Cardinals baseball. Mr Collins loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was a member of Curry Street Church of Christ of West Plains.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Collins, of the family home; two children, Marvin V Collins Jr. and wife, Pam, West Plains, and Janet Collins Mueller and husband, Mike, Naples, Florida; three stepchildren, Jim Nash and wife, Candy, Edison Nash and wife, Sandy, and Diana Smith and husband Tollie; five grandchildren, Michelle Anderson and husband Clay, Kevin Collins and wife, Carrie, Dacia Stewert and husband John, Brett Mueller and Stacey Mueller; four step grandchildren, Jim Jr, Oscar Jr, Joshua and Nicholas; five great grandchildren, Benjamin, Levi, Olivia, Isaac, and Mallory; three brothers, Basil Collins and wife, Rosa, Wendall Collins and wife, Zoe, and J D Collins and wife, Maxine, all of West Plains; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife.
Memorial contributions may be made to Curry Street Church of Christ or the Lions Eye Bank and left at the funeral home.
Military honors wil be provided by the Missouri Military Funeral Honors Program and Veterans Honor Guard of West Plains.
