Pine Creek

Mrs. Lucinda Catherine Pierce passed away Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Waggoner.  Death was due to pneumonia.  Mrs. Pierce was indeed one of the pioneer mothers of this county as most of her life was spent in this community or near here.  Although blind and bedfast for the last three years, she maintained an active interest in the community and current events of the day.  She enjoyed having members of her family read to her.  Mrs. Pierce will be remembered as an active Christian worker, not only in the church but outside as well.  Her hospitality was well known as was her kindness and help to the sick and needy.  She was 79 years old at the time of her death.  She leaves 62 decendants, seven children, Lascoe, Robert, Virgil, George, and Arch Moore, and Mrs. Anna Beasley and Mrs. Effie Waggoner.  there are 34 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.  Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. J. Carty, an old time friend of the family, at the Community church, Monday afternoon.  Rev. Carty conducted the funeral services for Mrs. Pierce's mother, Mrs. Thomas, years ago.  This community extends sympathy to the Waggoner, Beasley and Moore families.
