J. Fred Beasley

   J. Fred Beasley, a retired employee of the Railway Express Agency with more than 46 years of service, died unexpectedly eary Sunday.  He was 72 years old.
   Beasley was stricken at his home on R. $ Parsons, and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Labette County Medical Center.
   He was born on Fe. 21, 1901, at Morehead, a son of James M. and Nancy Herndon Beasley, and grew up in that area.
   At the age of 18 he began work for the express agency, retiring on March 1, 1966.  He later worked for two years at Adventure Line Manufacturing Co. here and for one year at a service station.  He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway, Airline and Steamship Clerks.
   He and Kate Farran were married on Sept. 5, 1924, and she survives.
   Also surviving are one son, Melvin, of Parson; one daughter, Mrs. Pauline Gaddis of Springfield; six grandchildren; three brothers, Edmund A. Beasley of Lehi, Utah; E.R. "Bill" Beasley of Jenks, Okla.; and three sisters, Mrs. Rutherford Dean of Erie, Mrs. E. W. Dean of Galesburg and Mrs. May Swayze of Parsons.
   Four brothers and one sister are deceased.
   Services will be held at 2 p.m. wednesday at the Burris-Wall Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. C. Wayne Norton, and burial will be in Oakwood.
