| West Plains Daily Quill, Wed., March 1, 1961 Burdine Johnson Dies of Leukemia Last Night Joe Burdine Johnson, 59, Siloam Springs Rt., died of leukemia at 6 last night at the University Medical Center in Columbia. Mr Johnson had been ill for a month. He was born in Howell County April 13, 1901 to the late Charles and Harriett Collins Johnson. Survivors include his widow, Rosie of the family home; three sons, Alfa Johnson and Lonzo Johnson, Siloam Springs; and Norman Johnson, West Plains; two daughters, Evaline Fox, Pottersville, and Delores Clinton, Siloam Springs; three sisters, Eva Brower, Cauldwell, Idaho, Stella Gilbert, Siloam Springs, and Bertha Oaks, West Plains; and two brothers, Lewis Johnson, Tulsa, Okla., and Scott Johnson, Pomona. A daughter, Mrs Lavern Harris preceded him in death. The body was to be returned today by Robertson ambulance. Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be under the direction of Robertson Funeral Home. **************** From the West Plains Daily Quill, March 2, 1961 J. B. Johnson Rites Set for Tomorrow Funeral services for Joe Burdine Johnson, 59, Siloam Springs Rt. will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in Siloam Springs Church with the Rev Joe Anderson officiating. Mr Johnson died at 6 o'clock Tuesday night at the University Medical Center in Columbia and his body was returned here yesterday by air ambulance. He married Rosie Collins June 26, 1926 at West Plains. He was a timber worker his entire life. Burial will be in Thornton Cemetery under the direction of Robertson Funeral Home. |
