J. Sherman Collins, son of the late Bartholomew and Mary Capps Collins, was born near Dora in Ozark County, Missouri, December 21st, 1896. Entered into eternal rest September 24th, 1979, at the age of eighty-two years.
On December 11th, 1916, Mr. Collins was married in Ozark County, Missouri, to Alta Jane Russell, who preceded him in death October 6th, 1977.
Mr. Collins is survived by four sons, who are Marvin Collins, Basil Collins, Wendell Collins and J.D. Collins, all of West Plains, Missouri. there are ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren surviving, as does one brother, Elza Collins, Dora, Missouri.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, six brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Collins had been a member of the Church of God since early manhood, and was presently attending the Sixth Street Church of God at West Plains, Missouri. For many years he served as a Director of the Howell Valley School Board and for a number of years was Commissioner for the Special Road District of Howell County, Missouri.
