J. M. Beasley, Local Farmer Succumbs

   J. M. Beasley, 69 well known farmer residing 7 1/2 miles south on 21st street, died at his home at 4:30 o'clock this morning as the result of an illness extending over a period of six months.  A heart complication was the immediate cause of death.
   The funeral will be held at the Martin funeral home at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Edwin W. Armstrong.  Interment will be in Oakwood cemetery.
   Mr. Beasley is survived by his widow and eight sons and four daughters, Walter Beasley, Ottawa, Ks.; Austin Beasley, Taponas, Colo.; Fred Beasley, E.R. Beasley, J.N. Beasley, Robert Beasley, and Lewis Beasley, all of Parsons; Mrs. Fay Dean and Mrs. May Swayze, Birmingham, Mich.; and Mrs. Cora Dean and Mrs. Lizzie Blake, of Parsons.  He also leaves 26 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Drusie Waggoner, Willow Springs, Mo., and Mrs. Rose Bradley, El Dorado, and three brothers, William Beasley, and Lee Beasley, Competition, Mo., and Charley Beasley, Willow Springs, Mo.
   Mr. Beasley was born in Sulivan county, Missouri, and grew to manhood at that place, later locating at willow Springs, Mo.  He came to rural Parsons in 1898 and has lived at his present home for the past five years.  He married Nancy Herndon at Willow Springs, Sept. 20, 1891 and has been a farmer practically all his life.
   The Beasley family has been remarkably fortunate.  Out of a family of eight sons and four daughters, Mr. Beasley's is the first death, and he leaves his relatives the rich heritage of an honorable life well spent.
