James Grant Collins Dies; Funeral Set For Tomorrow

  Funeral services for James Grant Collins, 87, Rt. 1, Willow Springs, will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Oak Grove Church west of Pomona with the Rev. Ira Johnson officiating.
  Mr. Collins died at 12:30 Friday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Willis Gilbert, with whom he had been making his home for 16 years. He was in poor health for several months.
  He became critically ill Wednesday suffering from senile causes.
  He was born Sept. 12, 1872 in Douglas County to the late Henry and Polly Ann Driskell Collins.  At the age of 7 he came with his parents to Howell County where he has continued to live.
  On May 26, 1895 he married Mary Frances Collins.  She died Dec. 13, 1916.
  Surviving besides the daughter in whose home he died are a son, David Collins, St. Louis; three daughters, Celia Whelihan, Kansas City, Zella Tuning, Caldwell, Idaho, and Vera Fox, Idleyld Park, Ore,; 19 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren, Two sons, three daughters and a brother preceded him in death.
  He was engaged in farming his entire life.  He served as justice of the peace in Siloam Springs Township for more than 25 years and served as school clerk in the Turner Scholl district for many years.
  Burial will be beside his wife in Collins Cemetery under the direction of Robertson Funeral Home.
