| West Plains Daily Quill June 13, 2001 Rev. James Barnett services held Funeral services for the Rev. James Eli Barnett, 73, Brandsville, wee 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in West Plains, with the Revs. Charles Barnett and Frank Rogers officiating. Rev. Barnett died 2:20 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2001, at Cox Walnut Lawn, Springfield. He was born Oct. 13, 1927, in Fulton County, Ark., the son of Walter P and Georgia Ava Pentecost Barnett. On June 19, 1947, he was married at Brandsville to Ruth Mary Brashear. Rev. Barnett served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a minister for 42 years, and had attended Brandsville Pentecostal Church of Brandsville since his retirement. He was a wonderful husband, devoted father and grandfather. He had touched the lives of many. Surviving include his wife, Ruth Mary Barnett, of the family home; five children, Leona Losurdo and husband, Dennis, Springfield, Ed Barnett and wife, Carol, West Plains, Joy Collins and husband, Stanley, Steelville, Ron Barnett and wife, Mary Jo, Couch, and Brenda Barnett, Mammoth Spring, Ark.; three sisters, Ina Goodard, Clever, Minnie Waite, Shawnee Mission, Kan., and Norma Ruth Shirk, state of Washington; one brother, Charles Barnett, Mtn. View; three half-sisters, Pearl Perkins, Moko, Ark., Ruby Idleman, Koshkonong, and Edna Williams, Jefferson, Texas; six grandchildren, Layle Carter and wife, Gina, Sand Springs, Okla., Brian Carter and wife, Nicole, Ecru, Miss., Greg Collins and wife, Delesia, West Plains, Jeff Collins and wife, Stephanie, Steelville, Stacey Houle and husband, Scott, Brandsville, and Rodney Barnett and wife, Lindi, Couch; and seven great-grandchildren, Cody and Emily Carter, Taylor Carter, Ashley Collins, Bethany and Landon Collins, and Megan Houle. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brother, Fred Ball and Glen Ball; one infant brother and two infant sisters. Burial was in Union Hill Cemetery in Howell County, with military rites provided by the Missouri Military Funeral Honors Program and the Veterans Honor Guard of West Plains. |
