Fred Ball services Tuesday
Funeral services for Fred W. Ball, 83, West Plains, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2001, in the Rose Chapel of the Robertson-Drago Funeral Home of West Plains, with the Rev. Jesse Taylor and David Meade officiating.
Mr. Ball died 11:58 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2001, at West Vue Home, West Plains. He was born Nov. 5, 1917, at Camp, Ark., the son of Charles William Ball and Georgia Pentecost Ball Barnett.
On April 3, 1936, he was married at West Plains to Erma Todd.
Before his retirement, Mr. Ball was a road grader operator for the Howell County Southern Districk, helped his sons at Ball Brothers Forest Products, and also did the road grader work when they built the West Plains Motor Speedway.
He was a member of Koshkonong Assembly of God Church and served as Sunday school superintendent for more than 40 years.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Erma Ball, of the family home; three daughters, Vera Puckett, Lyles, Tenn., Hazel Shirk and husband, charles, Bingen, Wash., and Robert Maguffee and husband, Sonny, Salem, Ark.; two sons, Fred "Bill" Ball Jr. and wife, Debbie, Koshkonong, and Marvin Ball and wife Mary Kay, West Plains; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Pearl Perkins, Moko, Ark., Edna Williams, Jefferson, Texas, Ruby Idleman, Koshkonong, Ina Goodard and husband, Don, Clever, Minnie Waite, Overland Park, Kan., and Norma Rugh Shirk and husband, Harry, Dallas Port, Wash.; two brothers, James Barnett and wife, Ruth, Brandsville, and Charles Barnett and wife, Mary Etta, Mtn. View; a sister-in-law, Mabel Ball, Koshkonong; serveral nieces and nephews; and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles william Ball; his mother, Georgia Barnett; his stepfather, Walter Barnett; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Maguffee; a son-in-law, Connie Puckett; and one brother, Glen Ball.
Burial will be in Union His Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
