| taken from the West Plains Quill, January 30, 1979 Elvin Johnson rites Wednesday Funeral services for Elvin Johnson, 72, West Plains, will be held at 2 pm Wednesday in the Carter Chapel at West Plains with the Rev. Wesley Taylor officiating. Mr. Johnson died at 7:15 am Monday in West Plains Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since Jan. 17. He was born Feb. 14, 1905, in Douglas County, MO, the son of Granville C Johnson and the late Ida Lee Clinton Johnson. He was of the Pentecostal belief. Survivors include his father, Granville C Johnson, West Plains; four brothers, Fremont Johnson and Gale Johnson, West Plains; Everett Johnson, Florence, Ala.; Willis Johnson, Kansas City; and two sisters, Mrs Florence Richardson and Mrs Mamie Hublitz, West Plains. His mother, two brothers, Richard and Elmie, and one sister, Effie, preceded him in death. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 pm this evening at the Carter Chapel in West Plains. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery under direction of Carter Funeral Home in West Plains. |
