JUDGE LOVAN DIES AT WILLOW SPRINGS

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow in the First Baptist
Church at Willow Springs for County Judge Elvin Franklin Lovan, 62,
who died yesterday, October 11, 1966, at his home in Willow Springs.

He had served as Northern Judge of the Howell County Court since
January of 1965. He was a member of the First Baptist Church at
Willow Springs and the Masonic Lodge.

Judge Lovan underwent lung surgery in the Spring and became seriously
ill in July. At the time of his death he was running unopposed for
reelection to the office of Northern Judge.

Elvin Lovan was born on October 25, 1903, at Pomona, the son of the
late Monroe Franklin Lovan and Flora Alice (Edwards) Lovan. He was
married October 23, 1927, to Mildred Lois Dennis, daughter of Robert F
and Mary (Roberts) Dennis.

Survivors include his wife Mildred, two sons, Dennis Elvin of Willow
Springs and Forrest Dean, of Steeleville; one daughter, Mrs. Lois
Wheeler of Willow Springs; one brother, Carl Lovan of St. Louis; one
sister, Mrs. Viola Northway of Willow Springs, and eight
grandchildren.

The Rev. Floyd Gentry will officiate at the funeral services.
Interment will be in the Willow Springs City Cemetery under the
direction of Burns Funeral Home of Willow Springs.
