   Elmer R. Lovan, 87, Overland Park, Kan. died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at the Shawnee Mission Medical Cemetery, Merriam, Kan.  Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.  Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
   Mr. Lovan was born Oct. 7, 1915, in Willow Springs, Mo. to Charles H. and Minnie (Warner) Lovan.  On Nov. 27, 1939, Elmer married Ella Marie Jones in Mountain View, Mo.
   Mr. Lovan was a locomotive engineer for the Frisco Railroad for 42 years, retiring in 1977.  He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Division 502.
   Mr. Lovan was also a member of the First Baptist Church, Shawnee, Kan.  He served as deacon there for many years.
   His son, Steven Michael Lovan, preceded him in death.
   Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ella Marie Lovan of the home; four sons, Donald R. Lovan, Clairmore, Okla., Frank A. Lovan, Barnett, Mo., Howard N. Lovan, Stillwell, Kan. and Keith A. Lovan, Overland Park, Kan.; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
