| West Plains Journal, Sept 21, 1922 Mrs J W Johnson Died Sept 13- Had Resided Here 26 Years Mrs J W Johnson died at her home near the County Home, 6 miles southeast of West Plains, Wednesday after an illness of several months due to heart trouble. Mrs Johnson was born in Winston Co, Alabama, in the year 1861. She was married to J W Johnson in 1878, who survives her. They came to West Plains twenty-six years ago and have resided on their farm southeast of town since moving here. When quite young Mrs Johnson was converted and united with the Missionary Baptist Church. She was the mother of twelve children, eleven of whom are living. Six daughters, Mrs Charles Lung, Mrs John Jones, Mrs Myrtle Noaks, Mrs Kay Abraham (misprint), Mrs Anna Thompson, and Miss Sarah Johnson, all of West Plains, and five sons, Abe (misprint), Hugh, King, James and Riley Johnson, all of West Plains. All of the members of the family were at their mothers bedside when death came. Mrs Johnson is also survived by two sisters, Mrs E R Calvert, of Bristow, Okla; and Mrs M L King of West Plains. Funeral services were held at Evergreen Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev O L Barnett of West Plains. Interment was made at Evergreen Cemetery. |
