| Doris Marie Smith Wake was born on August 23, 1925, at Vanzant, MO, the daughter of Grace Smith and David Thompson. She departed this life on June 8, 1995 at Ozarks Medical Center (OMC) in West Plains, MO, at the age of 69. She was united in marriage to Estel Monroe Wake on January 23, 1942 at Ava, MO, and to this union four children were born. She lived near Willow Springs all her life. Doris was a devoted wife, mother and grandma, and enjoyed all of the family functions. She was a shining Christian example to all who knew her. One of the things she loved most to do was going to garage sales with Aunt Ruth. Survivors include her husband, Estel, of the home; three daughters and their husbands, Juanita and Donald Collins of Willow Springs, Bonnie and Dick Cain of Cistern, TX and Lena and Steve Dunlap of Willow Springs; her Aunt Ruth of Willow Springs; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Grace Smith and Dave Thompson, her grandparents, Lilly and Jim Smith, one daughter, Lavonna Louise Wake, and one grandchild Danny Wayne Collins. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 1995 at Little Zion Church near Willow Springs with Revs. Charles Owens and Steve Dunlap officiating. Burial was in Little Zion Cemetery under the direction of Hiler Funeral Home, Willow Springs. |
