| Willow Springs News Jan 9, 1941 Frank Dennis Dies Monday Robert Franklin Dennis died at his home in the Pine Creek Community Monday after a long illness. He was 60 years of age. He was born in Tennessee on Oct. 8, 1880. He moved to Howell county at the age of four years with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Dennis, who have both preceded him in death. He has made his home in Howell and Texas counties for 56 years. He was married to Mary T. Roberts Jan. 1, 1901, and to them were born five children, two sons and three daughters. One son died in infancy. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Dennis, one son Alva Dennis; three daughters, Mrs. David Hansen, Mrs. Elvin Lovan and Mrs. Ivan Beasley; thirteen grandchildren and a host of other relatives. Funeral services were held at the Pleasant Grove Community Church Wednesday afternoon by Rev. Fred McPhail, pastor of the Baptist church. Burial was made in the Pleasant Grove cemetery under the direction of Burns & Sons. |

Dennis Held Monday Services for Mrs. Mary Teresa Dennis, 100, of Willow Springs, were held Monday, August 31st, at First Baptist Church here with Rev. Frank Worley officiating. Mrs. Dennis, a lifetime resident of the Willow Springs area, died August 28, 1981, in the Willow Care Nursing Home in Willow Springs. She was born May 2, 1881, at Pine Creek, Missouri. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Willow Springs. Surviving are one son, Alva Dennis of West Plains; three daughters, Vesta Hanson of Cabool, Mildred Lovan and Bertha Siegrist of Willow Springs; one sister Grace Slater of California; 12 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Interment was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery under direction of Burns-Mackey-Trentham Funeral Home of Willow Springs. |

| Vesta Hanson Vesta J. Hanson, 96, daughter of Frank Dennis and Mary Roberts Dennis, was born Feb. 24, 1904, in the Pine Creek community. She died Jan. 25, 2001, at Houston House. She married David Hanson of the Sargent community Dec. 24, 1924. They had four children. The Hansons lived on a farm at Elk Creek for 49 years. When her health permitted, she worked in her yard and flowers, read, sewed and quilted. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years; one brother, Alva Dennis; one son, Derrell Hanson; and two granddaughters. Surviving are four children, Dale Hanson of Washington, Ill., Willard Hanson of Peoria, Ill., Everet Hanson of Canton, Ill., and Vera Gladden of Houston; two sisters, Mildred Lovan and Bertha Siegrist of Willow Springs; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Services were Jan. 27 at the Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home in Cabool with the Rev. Lewis Lowe officiating. Burial was in the Cabool Cemetery. |

| DENNIS, William Jay - 1913 - 2000 Clinton Daily Democrat - William Jay Dennis, son of Joseph and Harriet Hoffman Dennis was born July 23, 1912, in Henry County, and died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City. He was married to Gladys Irene Wallace on December 23, 1939. Jay was a bus driver and worked for Walker township where he maintained the roads. He was a member of the White Oak United Methodist Church, Urich, for 73 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gladys; his son, Jay Lynn, and five brothers and seven sisters. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Judy Dennis of Stillwell, Kansas; his granddaughter, Michelle Dennis and his great-granddaughter, Angelica Neitch, both of Kansas City, as well as a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Vansant-Mills Chapel on Saturday, April 22, at 10 a.m. with David L. Mills officiating. Pallbearers were Dennis Doll, Warren Dee Smith, Donald Cook, Ryan Smith, Russell Hooper and Kenneth "Bud" Jones. Burial was in the White Oak Cemetery, Urich, under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton. |

| DENNIS, Gladys Irene WALLACE - 1916 - 1999 Clinton Daily Democrat, Oct 22, 1999 - Gladys Irene Dennis, daughter of Milt and Minabel McWatters Wallace, was born on March 14, 1916, in Nevada, and died Wednesday, October 13, 1999, at her home in Clinton. Gladys was married to William Jay Dennis on December 23, 1939. She worked for Crews Fashions in Clinton for 27 years and a short time for Hodina's Dress Shop. She was a member of the White Oak United Methodist Church, Urich. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jay Lynn Dennis , and four brothers, John Lester Wallace, Gene Wallace, Bill Wallace and Bob Wallace. She is survived by her husband Jay, of the home; one sister, Clella Lane of Clinton; one brother, Dean Wallace of Sarasota, Florida; one granddaughter, Michelle Dennis and one great-granddaughter, Angelica Neitch, as well as a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Vansant-Mills Chapel on Sunday, October 17, at 2 p.m. with Rev. David Waller officiating. The musical selections were "How Great Thou Art", "Because He Lives" and "One Day At A Time" with Maxine Zehnder as organist. Pallbearers were Dale Smith, Cecil Simpson, Donald Cook and John Compton. Burial was in the White Oak Cemetery Urich, under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral home of Clinton. |

| YOUNG, Charles Benjamin - 1901 - 1986 Charles Benjamin Young, son of Hiram and Willa Wilson Young, was born August 14, 1901 near Montrose, Missouri. He passed away March 13, 1986 at Chastain's of Clinton, Missouri. On September 1, 1921 he was united in marriage to Vera Elma Dennis. To this union were born two sons: Lloyd Kenneth Young of Clinton; Bennie Ray Young of Springfield and one daughter, Kathleen Cooper of Clinton. Charley farmed and hauled livestock. He liked horses which he trained. At one time he belonged to Montrose Saddle Club and participated in their activities. He worked for Howard Roberts for 12 to 15 years. He helped him with his horses which he thoroughly enjoyed. After his wife's death, he moved to Clinton to be near his children and grandchildren. He was always happy to have them with him. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two brothers; William, Edward and son in law Charlie Cooper. Besides his children he leaves 10 grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren. He also leaves three nieces and one nephew. Services for Mr. Young were held Sunday March 6,1986 at 2:00 P.M. at the Vansant Mills Chapel Rev. Carl Schooling presiding. Music was "Mansion Over the Hilltop by Caren Pilant and Peggy Arthur, organist. Pallbearers were Robert Ming, Glen Wilson, Floyd Wilson, Maurice Pilant, Warren Dee Smith and Dale Smith. Burial was at Hopewell Cemetery at Montrose under the direction of the Vansant Mills Funeral Home |
