| West Plains Daily Quill Friday, July 29, 1977 Charles S. Ross Funeral Sunday Funeral services for Charles Sylvester Ross, 78, Dearborn, Mich., former West Plains resident, will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, West Plains, with the Rev. Frank Hall officiating. Mr. Ross died Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in the V.A. Hospital at Columbia, Mo. He was born May 27, 1899, at Dora, Mo., the son of the late Shurah Acel and Amenda Collins Ross. On Dec. 24, 1919, he was married at West Plains to Phoebe Collins. On Aug. 21, 1969, he was married at Poplar Bluff to Josephine Raino. Mr. Ross was a veteran of World War I, having left West Plains with the old Company D, 130th Machine Gun Battalion and was one of the last two members of that company still living. He was a member of the Robert F. Mullins VFW Post at West Plains, and was of the Pentecostal faith. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Joephine Ross, Dearborn, Mich.; five children, Charles S. Ross, Jr., Destin, Fla.; Basil Ernest Ross, Winfield, Kan.; Earl Eugene Ross and Leslie Ross, both of West Plains; Mrs. Gene (Shirley) Mask, West Plains; two stepchildren, Jerry Soltau, Dearborn, Mich.; Nicholas Raino, state of California; 25 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a half brother and a half sister, William Engle, Tuckerman, Ark.; and Louise McReynolds, Kansas City, Mo. Preceding him in death are his parents and four sisters. Interment will be in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, West Plains. |
