| Charles W. Day, Jr. Charles W. Day Jr., 71, son of Charles W. Day and Effie Tipton, was born Dec. 3, 1927, in St. Louis. He died Sept. 2, 1999, at Perry Point Veterans Administration Medical Center at Perry Point, Md. He grew up in the Summersville area, living with his grandparents, John and Jane Day. He attended school at Hartshorn. He retired in 1974 as a master sergeant with 27 years of service in the U.S. Army. He served in Korea with the 1st Calvary Division and in Vietnam with the 588 Combat Engineer Region. He was a life member and past post commander of American Legion Mason Dixon Post 194 of Rising Sun, Md., where he was active with the honor guard. He was past Cecil County commander and past commander of the North Eastern Shore District,life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8185, Port Deposit, Md., a member of the Disabled American Veterans, a member of the 40 and B Vol.3 No. 1371 North Eastern Shore District and the Rifle Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Surviving is a companion, Charlotte Porter of Rising Sun, Md. Services and burial were at Rising Sun, Md.
