Carson Collins funeral Saturday

     Funeral services for Carson William Collins, 71, West Plains, will be at 10 am Saturday, Aug. 27, 1988, at the Langston Street Church of God with the Rev. Richard Dunn officiating.
     Mr. Collins died at 6:23 am Tuesday, Aug. 23, 1988, at Mercy Hospital, Mansfield.  He was born April 25, 1917, at Ash Flat, Ark., son of Joseph Aeron and Virgie May Horton Collins.
     He received his education in the schools of Hardy, Ark., Mtn. View and graduated from West Plains High School with the class of 1936.  On March 3, 1948, he was married at San Diego, Calif., to Imogene Ruth Jennings.
     Mr. Collins was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy for 24 and a half years.  He was at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked Dec. 7, 1941, and he was a member of the Korean Occupation Force during the Korean Conflict.  After his retirement from the U.S. Navy, Mr. Collins moved to West Plains and worked for the Mo. Division of Employment Security.  He was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Assn., the Fleet Reserve Assn., and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Robert F. Mullins Post No. 1828, West Plains.
     Survivors include his wife, Imogene Collins, of the home; five children, William Chester Collins and wife, Janice, Springfield, Janis Elaine Phillips and husband, Melvin, Carrollton, Texas, Joanna Finzel and husband, Alan, Lewisville, Texas, Rita Beth Bellendir and husband, Harold, Argyle, Texas, and Norman Brice Collins and wife, Laura, West Plains; seven grandchildren one brother, Chet Collins, West Plains; two sisters, Madrene Bohm, West Plains, and Bernice Trout, Hastings, Neb.; and several nieces and nephews.
     He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
     Burial will be in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, West Plains.
