| Howell County News Oct. 10, 2002 Alonzo Johnson Alonzo Johnson, age 58, of Pomona, Mo. died at 11:07 a.m., Tuesday, Oct 1, 2002, at his home. Mr. Johnson was born Sept. 8, 1944, at West Plains, Mo., the son of the late Joe Birdine and Rosey Collins Johnson. On May 2, 1981, Alonzo was married at Reno, Nev. to Kathern (Katie) Jeppson. He was a diesel mechanic in California and later retired as an over-the-road truck driver. Johnson was a member of the Am Vets Post 98 and enjoyed helping the Am Vets put up flag poles and United States flags in the area cemeteries. He loved hunting, fishing and especially coon hunting. Johnson is survivied by his wife, Katie Johnson, of the family home; seven children, Tracy Meadows and husband, Ron, of Stratford, Va., Charlie Johnson of Lawrenceburg, Ken., Shane Johnson of Lawrenceburg, Ken., Tina Jolliff and husband, Timmy of Siloam Springs, MO., Buddy Dean Colbert of Willow Springs, Mo., Sheila McCarty and husband David, of Dexter, Mo., and Sue Ann Beaumont and husband, Herbert, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Alfa Fox and husband, Melvin, West Plains, Mo., and Delores Short and husband, DAve, Hagerman, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Norman Johnson; and two sisters, Evelyn Fox and Laverne Harris. Mr. Johnson was a member of the First Christian Church of West Plains. Graveside services for Alonzo Johnson were held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2002, at the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Ron Richardson officiating under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Honors for Alonzo Johnson were provided by the Am Vets Post 98, West Plains.
