Allen Pond services today

   Funeral services for Allen Pond, 59, West Plains, were 2 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, in the Rose Chapel of the Robertson-Drago Funeral Home of West Plains, with Pastor Dion Prewett officiating.
   Mr. Pond died 3:45 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at Ozarks Medical Cemetery, West Plains.  He was born June 17, 1941, at Corning, Ark., the son of Ezra I. and Agnes D. Bennett Pond.
   On April 16, 1988, Mr. Pond was married at west Plains to Mona L. Turnbull.
   He was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier Saratoga from 1960 to 1964.
   Mr. Pond loved his farm, his cattle and his special dogs, Hydie, Wendy, Lady and Rex; but most of all, he loved his family and friends, he was a very special one-of-a-kind person, who will be loved and missed forever by family and too many friends to count.
   Survivors include his wife, Mona Pond, of the family home; three daughters, Pamela Coatney, and Crystal Owens and husband, Joe, al of West Plains, and Angela Romans, Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Keith Coatney and wife, Jessi, Norwood, Shawn Owens, Chassity Collins, Core Owens, Malachi Romans, all of west Plains, Nathan Collins, Mtn. View, and Zachary Cobb, Piggott, Ark.; one brother, Earnest Pond and wife, Ruth, West Plains; two nephews, Rick Pond and wife, Margaret, Gilliam, and Terry Pond and wife, Kim, West Plains; one niece, Vicky Collins and husband, L.J., West Plains; his favorite Mother-in-law, Wilma Ulrich, Pomona; and his special friends, Larry Collins, Mtn. View, Jack and Betty Beman, Sebring, Fla., Waymon and Pinkie Bales, Peace Valley, and Dee Dee and John Prince, Birch Tree.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; and his father-in-law, Lewis Ulrich.
   Burial was in Oak Lawn Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Posts 23 and 374, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1828, AmVets Posts 98 and 127, and Disabled American Veterans Post 43.
