I went to *N Sync's No Strings Attached concert at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California on June 9, 2000. *N Sync said that we were their biggest crowd ever. It's not hard to believe since the Rose Bowl was packed and it's a pretty big stadium. It's said that this was *N Sync's biggest performance on the tour (maybe not since New York is up there as well). *N Sync was really small on stage and binoculars helped somewhat; mostly everyone got a clear view.
I got midrow seats and I enjoyed. It was my first concert ever and it was definitely a perfect birthday gift. Though I admit, I would have had more fun if I was in the front half of the field seats. How in the world do they get those tickets?!?!?!?!? I would have done almost ANYTHING to get such good seats! If you're one of those people who had good tickets, please tell the secret or what you did at least. This is no joke! Pretty please e-mail me! Thank you soooo much in advance!!! You have no idea what you'll be doing to my heart.
Back to the subject...Before the concert, I saw THE Justin, Lance, and Chris separately for a few seconds while waiting behind the gate entrance. I was sooooooo excited and screamed "LANCE, I LOVE YOU!!!!!" I also saw Joey's brother. There was a huge crowd waiting and it was the only time I actually got to see them life-size! Though, I didn't see JC. :-(
If you're going to see *N Sync in concert soon and you don't want it spoiled, then I suggest you stop reading now. I'm going to talk about the actual concert, and I'm sure it'll be better not to read on. Have fun at the concert! :-) For those who want to know what happens, keep reading...
The first act to perform was guitarist and vocalist Ron Izarry (hope that's right) from Chris Kirkpatrick's FuMan Skeeto record label; Ron is the first artist on Chris' label. Next to perform was Pink and then Sisqo; this was Sisqo's last appearance on *N Sync's tour. These three artists performed about three to five songs for a total of about one and a half hour. They were pretty good. Joey Fatone's brother hosted most of the show.
After them, it was finally *N Sync. The stadium looked so pretty with all the blue and green glowsticks under the dark sky. *N Sync first came down from the top of the stage with strings (as shown under the title "Concert Review"). The whole entire show, I screamed when it was JC's turn to sing. I honestly don't remember the order of most of the songs, because I was too into the show, but I'll try my best:
1) No Strings Attached - This song as well as some others shows that *N Sync had to learn new dance moves and rehearse BIG TIME for the tour (6 new dances/songs in 2 weeks according to MTV's All Access special).
2) I Want You Back - Yes, I pointed at *N Sync on the line "So tell me what to do now when I want YOU back". I love this song!
3) God Must Have Spent A Little More Time On You - This was sooo sweet. They dedicated it to the fans for allowing them to break records and always being there. Justin let the audience sing a couple of lines like in the recent tour as he held out his microphone. I also did the hand movements on the chorus and pointed at *N Sync. I literally started crying when JC started to sing second verse, but I held in my tears. I just wanted him to know I was there. My sign said, "JC's My BDay Gift".
4) Tearin' Up My Heart - Yep, everyone was singing it!
5) Space Cowboy - No, Left Eye wasn't there, so *N Sync just danced to make up for her rap portion. I was dancing the whole time! I wanna take a ride with my Space Cowboy, JC.
6) I Drive Myself Crazy - I love this song!! I changed the line once in the chorus and screamed at the top of my lungs, "I drive myself crazy, thinking of JC!!!" I yelled for him in the interlude.
7) I Thought She Knew - I love this song!!! Oh my g*d!!! When Joey sang, "I'd sell my soul to have this silence broke," I screamed sooooo loud, because THAT's my line!!!
8) Just Got Paid - Fake money was flying everywhere. I LOVE THIS SONG!!! It always puts me in a dancing mood. I danced the whole time.
9) It Makes Me Ill - It was so cute how they dressed as doctors except Justin who was in a hospital gown. Now that I think about it, it's like the fast version of "I Drive Myself Crazy"! *lol* Just kidding. Everyone started screaming when he started, "I was hanging with the fellas..." And we all sang even though the song is kind of hard to sing. Of course you have to change the line, "It makes me ill cause you used to be my BOY."
10) It's Gonna Be Me - OH MY G*D!!! When I heard those notes in the intro, I got soooooo amazingly excited, I screamed soooooo loud and jumped up and down!! That drove my crazy!! The excitement scale was broken and it was probably one of moments I got the most excited.
11) This I Promise You - Oh man, I'm going to cry! This performance really got to me and is one of the reasons why I'm depressed right now. *N Sync was on this moving platform only for the front half of the field seats. I was all the way up here and *N Sync was all the way over there. What's up with that? It's not suppose to be like that! I just wanted to run down and scream JC's name while holding my sign.
12) Digital Get Down - One word: Hot! The TV screens had computer language, etc. showing. The middle part of the song is soooo HOT!!!! Basically: I'll back that thang up! *lol*
13) Bye, Bye, Bye - *N Sync closed the show with an appropriate titled song. They all wore cloaks and the mood seemed spooky till the song's intro started. Everyone screamed! Even though I know the whole dance, I just danced the chorus with my hands.
There were about thirteen songs in total for an approximate one and a half hour performance by *N Sync alone. I was really hoping to hear "That's When I'll Stop Loving You" live, because that's my favorite song...but that's okay. I was singing, dancing, and screaming for JC (Lance as well) the whole time. Is fifty dollars (for just ONE ticket) worth sitting in far away seats just to see *N Sync? Oh yeah.
JC's My BDay Gift. This concert was a birthday gift from my mom. Thanks mom! *N Sync albums are awesome, but the guys are even better live. High-energy dance moves and beautiful voices. The only regret is not being so close. If I was that close, I wouldn't be able to hold in my tears.
While driving out of the parking lot, people were reading my sign while others smiled at the JC picture I held out. One fan had a "I LOVE JC" sign out the window, so I held my JC picture out. They gave me a thumbs up and I waved. I felt a connection with this JC fan! JC himself doesn't know I exist, but he lies deep within my heart. I'd sell my soul to have this silence broken. JC broke my silence on June 9, 2000.
