| Welcome to Minds Eye Theatre. Minds eye Theatre is a role playing game based on Vampire: The Masquerade. It is a game in which you play the part of a character, in this case a vampire, much as if you were living in a giant board game. You create and develop your character and then you play that character in a world developed by a Storyteller and Narrators. The worlds of Vampire the Masquerade are dark and dangerous with perilous activities and life or un-life threatening plots and twists.
I guess a better way to describe playing this game is kind of like being in a movie. You as well as others are the characters and together you play them without a script. You dont just sit around and wait for the dice to tell you what to do; you just go and do it. There a parameters set up for the world around you, but just like in real life you dont always know what is going to happen. The reason is that you and the other players are creating the specifics of that wire frame world as you play. The Storyteller is there to guide the players and define the rough edges of this gothic-punk world, he or she creates the stage and the props needed to tell the story. All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely Players; They have their Exits and their Entrances, And one man in his time playes many parts - Shakespeare, As You Like It- When you play the game you are taking on the life of the character that you create. Your character can be from any time in history to today, can be of any age, any sex, or any religion (if you dare do that). You allow this character, a vampire, to take on a pseudo life of its own during the game play. You think and react like this vampire and let him or her move and do as it would like. During the game, you speak and act as your character, unless youre in need of discussing something with the Storyteller or one of the Narrators. Minds Eye Theatre depends on its players to make the world work, all the players must be vibrant and animated. Many times the story leads the characters, but the fun really begins when the characters dictate the story. The Storyteller and the Narrators have created a very intricate frame work for the world your character lives in; you must do everything you can to make that imaginary world come alive, err, umor un-alive as the case may be. |

| I. The Origins of the Vampires |
| On the surface, the world of the game looks very similar to the one that we are all familiar with and live in. People are born, grow up, get jobs and families, and eventually die. The cities are similar to the ones we know, with newspapers being sold on corners, favorite bakeries making sweets and treats, and the T.V. drones on with its normal senseless dribble. But if one were to take a more scrutinous eye and look, the world in the game is much darker. In this world a sense of foreboding lurks behind each corner and the smell of fear is on the wind. The elements of violence, death and despair are more exposed. Monsters need to feed and hunt and they prey on us. The World of Darkness is not just a thin layer of filth covering the world it is a hard hitting smack in the face, a punch of surrealistic and dire reality, where the monsters of our dreams lurk not just in the shadows, but on the surface, they are as real as we are.
This is the World of Darkness, this is the world of the Vampire, and this is where they call home. |
| In the Vampire the Masquerade, vampires believe that they are descendants of the first murderer: Caine. It was the curse, vampirism, placed upon him by God that eventually gave rise to the vampire clans. Caine was forced out into the world to wonder, he eventually came across a mighty sorceress named Lilith, believed to be the first wife of Adam. It was she whom taught Caine how to use the curse to his advantage, to create power magic and to ultimately create others like him self. At first, Caine refused to embrace others, he was afraid that they would become a plague upon the world. However Caine was very lonely and in the end his loneliness convinced him self to create others. These original 3 vampires created 13 chlder and they, fought amongst themselves and fed carelessly amongst the mortal population. Caine, angered by there childish behavior, forbade them from creating any childer and built a great city to contain them. Both mortal and vampire coexisted in peace for many years, but eventually the vampires gave way to there childish glutton and were once again at each other's throats, using mortals as pawns in there fights. A Great Flood of Biblical proportions came and destroyed this great city, and both Caine and his firsts vanished into the wastes, never to be heard from again. The 13 became known as Antidiluvians, and created many other childer. Each a generation removed from Caine and each weaker in strength. Taking on the Antidiluvians magical gifts and curses, creating the clans. |
